17-year-old Faces Charges For Several Robberies And Carjackings

Wagswoofs –  A 17-year-old teenager was taken into custody for allegedly committing a carjacking and multiple robberies in Memphis. The incidents occurred over a two-day period last week.

On December 28, at 9:30 p.m., officers received a report of an individual being robbed at gunpoint at the intersection of South Highland Street and Walker Avenue.

Three armed men emerged from a black sedan on Walker Avenue after the vehicle came to a stop and its hazard lights were activated, as reported by the police. These suspects then approached the victims, brandishing their firearms and demanding money.

The suspects allegedly stole cell phones, air pods, cash, and credit cards from the victims before departing the area and heading west on Walker Avenue.

On December 29 at approximately 1:17 a.m., officers received a report of a business robbery at a Waffle House located on Varnavas Drive in Cordova. According to witnesses, a man entered the restaurant shortly after an employee and demanded money.

According to MPD, additional suspects entered the Waffle House and proceeded to take money from both the employees and the business. Afterward, they made their escape in a black Sedan.

Officers received a distress call at 3:40 a.m. and promptly rushed to the Superman Market on Summer Avenue in response to a reported carjacking incident. The unfortunate incident occurred when the victim and his girlfriend had stopped at the market to refuel their vehicle.

Two men, armed with guns, stepped out of a sleek black Infiniti sedan and approached the victims, ordering them to exit the vehicle. According to reports, the assailants seized the victims’ Saturn Vue and swiftly fled the scene, heading north on Perkins Road.

Officers were called to Howard’s Donuts on Summer Avenue at 4:23 a.m. in response to yet another business robbery.

According to the police, two men entered the store and proceeded to go behind the counter, where they then demanded money from the employees while brandishing guns.

According to reports, the suspects stole cash from both the register and office before making their getaway in a gray SUV. The police have confirmed that the license plate on the SUV matches the stolen Saturn Vue from the Superman Market.

Officers made an attempt to stop the stolen Saturn Vue on National Street in Highland Heights shortly afterward.

According to reports, a police chase ensued after the driver refused to stop. The pursuit came to a halt on Henry Avenue, where three men exited the vehicle and fled.

One of the suspects was apprehended by officers in the 3400 block of Henry Avenue, and they recovered a weapon that he had on him.

The authorities apprehended a 17-year-old individual who has been charged with multiple offenses. These charges include two counts of carjacking, two counts of employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, eight counts of aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, and evading arrest through a foot pursuit.
