18-year-old Killed On Indy’s’ Northeast Side, Mother Shares Details Of Fatal Incident

Wagswoofs – An 18-year-old woman lost her life in a tragic shooting on Indy’s northeast side, leaving her family devastated and in search of answers.

According to neighbors, gunshots were heard, but there is no information regarding the cause of the shooting. The victim tragically lost her life only a short distance away from her mother’s residence.

Crystal Conner expressed her deep sorrow and disbelief, stating, “I’m hurt. My heart hurts. I’m in disbelief. I’m sitting in her room thinking she’ll come home, and that’s just not it.”

Crystal Conner and her daughter, Ariel Calhoun, resided in the very neighborhood where the tragic killing occurred.

Crystal was at home when she heard the gunshots and noticed the police lights flashing. It was only then that she realized that her daughter had tragically lost her life to the gunfire.

“I can’t wrap my head around it,” Conner expressed with a heavy heart. “Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine preparing to cremate my own daughter.”

According to Crystal, her daughter was attempting to make her way back home when tragedy struck and she lost her life.

Conner expressed her heart-wrenching ordeal, stating, “They shot my baby while she was running home to me, trying to escape her pursuers.”

Ariel’s family marked the occasion on Monday by releasing balloons in remembrance of their loved one. They also made a heartfelt plea to the public, urging them to come forward with any information that may help identify the individual responsible for the shooting.

Conner expressed his disbelief and sadness over the shooting of Ariel, stating, “Ariel didn’t deserve to be shot down. Everybody loved Ariel, so I’m absolutely stunned.”

This year in Indianapolis, Ariel’s death has become the 35th homicide involving individuals who are 18 years old or younger. Out of these cases, 23 of them were juvenile victims.

Ariel’s mother is becoming increasingly frustrated with the rising number of young lives being lost.

Conner expressed his disbelief and frustration, stating that it seems as though people lack remorse, respect, and care for one another. He found it mind-blowing and admitted that he couldn’t comprehend this behavior.

The authorities have not made any arrests in the case.
