Wagswoofs – According to law enforcement sources and police, a teenager was shot and injured outside Sardi’s in Midtown on Tuesday evening, while the restaurant’s patrons were dining inside the renowned establishment.
Police reported that shots were fired in front of a restaurant located at 234 West 44th Street in the Theater District at around 10 p.m.
According to the NYPD, a group of young men were taken into custody after a 16-year-old boy was shot in the area.
According to police, the teenage victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital where medical professionals expect him to recover from his injuries.
According to The Post, two visitors from Seattle who were dining at Sardi’s witnessed the victim lying on the ground. Initially, they were unsure if the incident was a Halloween prank due to the timing of the incident.
According to Dawn Amato, they were able to hear a shot and observe people start running. At first, they were unsure if it was real or fake as the individual was suddenly down. However, it turned out to be a genuine gunshot.
Bill Hook, who was with Amato at the time, commented, “It appeared as though the situation was staged since we didn’t witness any signs of panic.”
Upon the swift arrival of the police, Hook became acutely aware of the severity of the situation. Meanwhile, other patrons in the restaurant who were not in close proximity to the window were completely unaware of the shooting.
Hook noted that the victim was able to speak coherently when interacting with the police.
As of late Tuesday night, charges had not been filed yet. It remains unclear what the cause of the shooting was.
I tried to reach Sardi’s, but unfortunately, I was unsuccessful.
