American Israeli Hostage With Ties To Orange County Reported Dead By Hostage Family Organizations

Wagswoofs – An American Israeli with connections to Orange County has tragically become the first U.S. citizen to be confirmed as having died while being held captive by Hamas.

The family had held onto hope that Gadi Haggai would be found alive, but their hopes were shattered on Friday when they received word from multiple international hostage groups, including Hostages and Missing Persons Families and Bring Them Home Now, that the 73-year-old had been reported as murdered by terrorists.

Judhi Weinstein, Haggai’s wife, who is 70 years old, was born in Goshen. Currently, Weinstein is still believed to be alive and remains in captivity.

On November 9th, Ofri Haggai, the niece of the couple, flew to New York to meet with Representative Pat Ryan, seeking his assistance. News 12 had the opportunity to talk to her about the situation.

According to the last texts the couple sent to their children, they were shot and taken hostage in Kibbutz Nir Oz while out for a walk together in the morning on October 7. Ofri Haggai said that the couple first saw rockets flying above. The couple’s family didn’t know if they were living or dead at the time.

Israeli officials have confirmed to the family of the couple that they requested assistance after the couple was attacked. However, emergency crews were unable to reach them in time.

The couple’s fate remained unknown to their family members, who were uncertain whether they were alive or deceased.

Ryan expressed his heartfelt sympathy for the Haggai family, who are mourning the loss of Gadi and anxiously praying for the safe return of Judih. Gadi, a talented musician, tragically fell victim to the senseless violence merely because of his Jewish identity. In a powerful statement, Ryan called on Hamas to release all hostages and return the bodies of the victims, allowing the grieving families to find solace in proper mourning.

Gadi Haggai, a talented musician, was not only a beloved father and uncle, but also had the privilege of playing for the IDF orchestra.

Hamas is believed to still hold his body in Gaza.
