Wagswoofs – According to the latest news, the attorney of the man charged with the 2022 death of Edmond Officer Sergeant C.J. Nelson has confirmed his passing. The incident had taken place in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Officials report that a utility truck crashed into four cars, including Nelson’s motorcycle, at the intersection of Broadway and Comfort Drive on Tuesday, July 20, 2022. Nelson was among those waiting at the red light when the collision occurred. The speed at which the truck was traveling is currently unknown.
Tragically, the man, who was a loving husband and father of two, became trapped between a white truck and another vehicle while riding his motorcycle. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite the best efforts of medical professionals, he passed away shortly after.
According to authorities, Jay Fite, aged 55, was charged with first-degree manslaughter as he was driving the vehicle that hit and caused the death of Sgt. Nelson. The reports indicate that he had drugs in his system at the time of the accident.
According to his attorney, Fite was granted medical bond and released from jail due to his deteriorating health.
On Tuesday, Fite’s attorney confirmed that he had passed away. At this time, the exact cause of his death is unknown.
