Authorities are closely monitoring Prospect Park following the discovery of a deceased woman on Tuesday.
According to authorities, the body of the woman was discovered at around 11 a.m. and it was evident that she had suffered head injuries. The officers were seen using flashlights to scour the wooded area in Prospect Park where the incident occurred. The area is known to have several homeless encampments, and the investigation is ongoing.
According to News 12, witnesses reported seeing police officers putting up Crime Stoppers flyers in the vicinity. One witness claimed to have heard screaming and fighting overnight and speculated that the victim may have been a homeless person, as the incident occurred close to a well-frequented running and biking path.
The cause of the woman’s death is currently being investigated by the medical examiner.
