Authorities are closely monitoring Prospect Park following the discovery of a deceased woman on Tuesday.
According to law enforcement officials, a woman’s body was discovered around 11 a.m. with evident head injuries. Officers were observed searching the nearby wooded area in Prospect Park using flashlights, as they work to examine the scene, which includes several homeless encampments.
According to a witness who spoke with News 12, police were seen posting Crime Stoppers flyers in the vicinity. The witness reported hearing screams and sounds of altercation overnight, leading them to believe that the victim may have been one of the homeless individuals who reside in the area. This incident occurred mere feet away from a well-known running and biking path.
The cause of the woman’s death is currently being investigated by the medical examiner.
