Bullets Fired During Road Rage Incident Near Monument Circle On Christmas

Wagswoofs – IMPD officers are currently on the lookout for the individual responsible for firing multiple gunshots near a bustling Monument Circle in Indianapolis.

The incident started when the victim, who wished to stay anonymous, found himself at the intersection of Capitol Avenue and South Street. As he was crossing the intersection, a car came dangerously close to hitting him.

The victim, who did not want to be named, said the trouble started where Capitol Avenue and South Street meet. He said that as he was going through the junction, a car almost hit him.

The car raced away, however, the victim claimed to have spotted them again at a red light on Illinois Street near Union Station.

The victim recounted how they approached the group and expressed concern, asking, “Hey, are you OK? Are you guys good?” However, instead of receiving gratitude, the intoxicated individuals shifted the blame onto the victim, making it clear that they were heavily under the influence.

The victim said that things got worse when he told the people in the other car that he was going to call the cops.

“Obviously you’re drunk and you’re gonna kill somebody if not yourself, and that’s when she said she was gonna shoot me and pulled up a gun so I took off,” the victim said.

He said he called 911, but the other car kept following him. At Illinois and Market Street, the victim claimed that he heard the sound of lightning striking metal as he drew near to another red light.

“I recognized it… and I took off and that’s when I heard bang bang bang again,” the victim recalled.

The bullet went through, but his back seat stopped it, which was lucky. He told them that he was able to get away from the shooter and wait for cops to arrive in a parking lot.

IMPD said they looked all over the area near Market and Illinois but couldn’t find any bullet casings. The victim’s car was the only thing the police believe to have sustained gunshot damage.

“Think about if this was you, if this was your kid or if this was someone you really loved,” he said. “Would you think that this is the solution?”

During the incident, the victim revealed that he had a firearm in his vehicle and possessed extensive marksmanship training. His primary concern was the possibility of having to use his weapon and potentially take someone’s life.

According to him, the shooter was fortunate that no one else was injured. The downtown area and Monument Circle were bustling with people who had come to take pictures with the Circle of Lights.

The victim expressed their disbelief at the current state of Indianapolis, saying, “It’s unbelievable that this is what the city has become.”

The IMPD is actively pursuing leads in order to locate the individual responsible for the shooting.

It is always recommended to avoid confronting another driver and instead allow law enforcement officers to handle the situation.
