Celina Couple Accused In January 6 Uprising Requests Release From Custody

Wagswoofs – A hearing has been set for Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to consider motions filed by a Celina couple who are seeking release from jail. The couple is awaiting trial on charges connected to their involvement in the “Stop the Steal” rally at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Donald and Shawndale Chilcoat, who are facing charges related to obstruction and other disruptive behavior during the January 6th attack on the Capitol, have recently filed motions requesting their release from jail pending trial.

The Chilcoats were granted bail after being arrested, but on September 5th of last year, they failed to attend a mandatory status hearing. As a result, a bench warrant was issued for their arrest, and on October 11th, they were apprehended in Mercer County.

Shawndale Chilcoat, in her motion, expressed her commitment to comply with all court restrictions and assured her presence at all forthcoming court appearances. Donald Chilcoat, on the other hand, acknowledged his error in failing to appear before the court and violating his pre-trial release conditions.
