DC Man Arrested For 3 Robberies On Facebook Marketplace

Wagswoofs – Police have apprehended an individual who had been engaging in robberies while meeting people for Facebook Marketplace transactions.

Nineteen-year-old Isaiah James Green, a resident of Southeast, D.C., was apprehended by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) on Wednesday.

MPD says that Green set up shop three times to meet a target at a certain place and sell them things. Once he arrived at the planned spot, he pulled out a gun, robbed the target, and then ran away.

The MPD reported that the robberies occurred on the following dates:

    • Thursday, Aug. 17 around 9:00 p.m. in the 5100 block of B St. SE
    • Saturday, Aug. 19 around 9:20 a.m. in the 5100 block of B St. SE
    • Sunday, Dec. 3 around 2:15 p.m. in the 3600 block of Highwood Dr. SE

D.C. residents are being reminded by the police to utilize Safe Exchange Zones for meeting up and conducting transactions from online marketplaces. The MPD emphasizes that these zones provide a secure environment, effectively reducing the risk of pre-planned robberies.

The district stations and the Special Operations Division’s Harbor Patrol each have zones.
