Wagswoofs – . According to PIX11, a tragic incident occurred in the Bronx where an emergency medical technician from the FDNY lost their life while on duty.
According to Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh, Frederick D. Whiteside, a 22-year veteran of the FDNY, suffered from cardiac arrest while on duty at a 911 dispatch center in New York City last Friday.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams expressed his deep sorrow in a statement over the loss of EMT Whiteside, calling it a heartbreaking moment for the city and its firefighters. He acknowledged the selfless service that EMT Whiteside had rendered throughout his career, saving countless lives of New Yorkers. Mayor Adams extended his condolences to the family and friends of EMT Whiteside and assured them of the city’s prayers during this difficult time.
On April 19, 2002, EMT Whiteside commenced his career at the FDNY. He served in EMS Division 2 and EMS Division 3, covering the Bronx and Brooklyn. From 2019 until now, he has been assigned to the EMS Dispatch.
Whiteside’s daughter, mother, and brother are left behind as his surviving family.
