Driver arrested after Moniteau County pickup truck hit pedestrian, Victim hospitalized in Jefferson City

Monday evening, a Sedalia man was taken to a hospital in Jefferson City after being struck by a pickup vehicle in Moniteau County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, Ethan Daniels, 20, of California was driving a 2008 Dodge 2500 westbound on Business 50 at 6:15 p.m.

According to the report, the truck left the right side of the road when Daniels glanced at his cellphone.

As Daniels returned the vehicle to the road, he struck Jeremy Maupin, 46, of Sedalia.

Mid-Mo Ambulance transported Maupin to St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City with serious injuries.

Daniels was arrested for leaving the site of an accident, second-degree assault, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway resulting in an injury accident, according to online arrest records.

He was taken to the Moniteau County Jail and a 24-hour hold was imposed on him.
