Wagswoofs – An EMT from Mississippi tragically lost his life when he was hit by a vehicle while providing aid to a victim of a car accident. This incident occurred shortly after he had transported another patient to a hospital in Alabama.
Mary “Katie” Pipkins passed away on Saturday, as confirmed by ASAP EMS Operations Manager Rusty Hembree.
The statement expresses deep sadness over the loss of an incredible friend and colleague at ASAP EMS.
While returning to their coverage area after transporting a patient to Mobile, Ala, one of the ASAP crews noticed an auto accident scene and decided to stop and provide assistance. Tragically, while helping one of the victims, Pipkins was struck by a passing vehicle.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of such a remarkable individual,” the statement expresses. “Miss Pipkins exemplified true heroism in every aspect. She established a benchmark in the field of EMS that others aspired to achieve. Her boundless love and compassion touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She served as an inspiration to her colleagues and all those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.”
