Wagswoofs – In June 2020, the world was already in the midst of a global pandemic. It had only been a few months since numerous countries implemented strict lockdown measures. However, during this challenging time, one family from Indiana was facing an additional distressing situation – the search for Dawnita Wilkerson, a 44-year-old mother of six who had gone missing. Initially, it was believed that she was last seen by her 15-year-old child on June 21. Nevertheless, further investigation later revealed that this was not the accurate account of events.
On June 21, 2020, surveillance footage revealed that Dawnita Wilkerson was caught on camera at a motel located on the East Side of Evansville, Indiana. At 8:16 a.m., the footage showed Dawnita entering a silver Chevrolet Suburban with a sunroof and tinted windows. The vehicle was observed driving through Southwest Indiana and into Southern Illinois. Authorities suspect that she may have been heading towards the Carbondale or Marion areas in Illinois.
Tracking Down The Vehicle
According to reports, a man named Cedrick Vernall Neal is registered as the owner of the vehicle under investigation. However, he has not been cooperative with the investigation, which has caused frustration among Dawnita’s loved ones. They expressed their disappointment with authorities for withholding certain information that they had learned. Speaking to reporters, Evansville Police Detective Jeff Hands explained that there is a reason behind this approach, as they need to diligently pursue leads before making any public disclosures.
“We regret that in situations like this, we are unable to disclose all information to the family,” Hands expressed. “We make an effort to convey this to them. I cannot fathom the emotions they are experiencing, and I acknowledge their frustration. However, there are instances where we are unable to discuss certain matters and must adhere to our own protocols.”
“We humbly request your prayers and understanding as we desperately seek to find Dawnita,” appealed Faye Wilkerson, Dawnita’s aunt. “We are immensely grateful for the dedicated individuals and agencies who have been tirelessly working to assist us, including those who have helped create flyers. We implore everyone to join us in our mission to bring Dawnita back home.”
