Kansas City Police Investigate Deadly Shooting Wednesday Night In The North Indian Mound

Wagswoofs – According to the police, a shooting took place on Wednesday night outside of a convenience store in Kansas City’s North Indian Mound neighborhood, resulting in the death of a man.

Shortly before 10 p.m., officers received a report of gunfire in the 5500 block of East St. John Avenue, according to Captain Corey Carlisle, a spokesperson for the department. As the officers were on their way to the scene, the call was updated to a shooting incident, Carlisle added.

The officers found a single adult male gunshot victim on the northern sidewalk. The police said he was dead at the scene.

Detectives are currently in the process of searching for witnesses and any available surveillance video in the area, according to Carlisle. As of Wednesday night, the police had not yet identified a suspect, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remained unknown.

According to data collected by The Star, the recent killing in Kansas City is the 179th homicide of 2023. The city has witnessed a significant level of violence this year, comparable to its deadliest year on record in 2020, where 182 lives were lost.
