Wagswoofs – A 24-year-old man from Kansas City, Kansas, was found guilty by a federal jury on Thursday for his involvement in a 2020 retaliatory shooting. The incident resulted in injuries to two individuals, including a federal task force officer.

G’Ante Butler has been convicted of forcibly assaulting a federal law enforcement officer and using a firearm to commit a crime of violence, as stated in court documents and trial evidence.

Around 6:30 p.m. on August 3, 2020, the Kansas City, Kansas (KCK) police officers were called to the 5100 block of Farrow Avenue following a report of shots being fired. The incident occurred at the residence of the suspect’s parents.

Later that evening, ATF special agents and federally deputized task force officers proceeded to a residence located in the 1900 block of North Allis Street. There, they apprehended one of the individuals responsible for the earlier shooting incident at the Farrow Avenue residence.

According to the findings of the investigation, ATF agents discovered that Butler and his accomplices had organized the shooting as a response to the previous altercation on Farrow Avenue. Their intention was to target the residence on North Allis Street and engage with anyone present there.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers were able to retrieve a total of 101 casings and two live rounds from an alley located west of the targeted residence on North Allis Street. The casings collected consisted of various calibers, including 9mm, .40 caliber, .45 caliber, 5.56 caliber, and 7.62 caliber.

Three additional suspects, namely Nadarius Barnes (24), Chase Lewis (23), and Donnell L. Hall (28), all residents of KCK, have individually admitted guilt to charges of forcibly assaulting a federal law enforcement officer and using a firearm to facilitate a crime of violence.

The trial for a fifth suspect is set to take place in February 2024.
