Wagswoofs – Authorities have reported that a Phoenix police officer witnessed a 30-year-old man firing at an unoccupied vehicle and then allegedly attempting to threaten the officer with a handgun on Friday evening, resulting in the man’s arrest.
According to a release, police were called to respond to a man who was seen shooting at an empty car at 1609 N. 91st Ave around 9:40 p.m. on November 10th.
According to the statement released, as soon as the initial officer arrived on the scene, he spotted Martin Vega, who was the suspect, fleeing from the location.
The officer observed Vega as he faced the patrol car and reached towards the gun in his waistband. The officer proceeded to approach Vega and hit him with the patrol car, successfully detaining him without any further issues.
After suffering minor injuries, Vega was taken to a hospital by the Phoenix Fire Department. He was later released and then booked into jail on various charges including drug offenses, weapons and explosives, and assault. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed these details.
