In Ravenswood, a man was handed a significant prison sentence, according to reports from WTAP.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, John Lawson has been sentenced to 554-1,210 years in prison.
On Friday, October 20th, 2023, the sheriff’s department made an announcement regarding the sentence.
In December 2022, Lawson was found guilty of 136 sexual offenses after a trial that lasted a week.
As per the statement from the Jackson County West Virginia Sheriff’s Department, Lawson has been found guilty in what has been described as a repugnant and abhorrent case.
According to reports, Lawson has been found guilty of a staggering 30 counts of incest, 30 counts of second-degree sexual assault, 52 counts of sexual abuse by parent, 22 counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and two counts of solicitation of a minor via computer. The gravity of these charges cannot be overstated, and the impact on the victims is immeasurable.
