Wagswoofs – On Monday, authorities in Wood County arrested a man from Wisconsin Rapids for stealing a truck there.
According to the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department, they were called to the Cenex on Division Street in Colby on Monday at 5:57 p.m. to report reports of a stolen truck. The person who filed the report said that he left his truck running while he went into the cinema, and when he came back, it was gone.
The officer identified the suspect, Julien Jaminski, after watching the surveillance video. Court records show that Jaminski is charged with theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and other offenses in addition to the identified suspect, according to the officer who watched the surveillance video.
On Monday at 10:47 p.m., the Wood County Sheriff’s Department found the stolen truck in Vesper. Colby-Abbotsford Police arrested Jaminski. Curtis, he said, told Jaminski he could borrow the truck. Authorities told him, though, that they had video of him taking the car.
Following this, Jaminski asked if “they had him on camera.” Jaminski responded, “Dang, I guess I’m screwed then,” upon hearing that. According to reports, Jaminski had spent most of the day wandering around the Cenex and asking for food and drinks from time to time.
Charges against Jaminski include driving a car without the owner’s permission, blocking a police officer, and jail jumping. All the crimes he is accused of could result in a punishment of more than 10 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
Court records described Jaminski as homeless in crimes that occurred in Eau Claire County in late 2021 and early 2022.
