Man Shot In Binghamton House; Nearby Schools Closed

Wagswoofs – The Binghamton police are currently conducting an investigation to locate the individual believed to be responsible for a shooting incident that took place at a residence on the East Side.

Around 10:35 a.m. on Thursday, police officers were dispatched to 9 Andrews Avenue, a single-family residence.

A man at the home suffered a gunshot wound to his arm, but fortunately, it did not seem to be life-threatening. The authorities did not disclose the man’s identity, but he was promptly transported to a hospital for medical attention. Currently, his condition remains unknown.

Police agencies in the area were informed that the alleged shooter was a man seen wearing a mask and a camouflage jacket. It remains unclear whether the suspect fled the scene using a vehicle.

According to investigators, there is a belief that the injured man and the shooter have a prior acquaintance.

The shooting occurred at a house on Andrews Avenue, situated between Robinson Street and East Frederick Street. This residence is conveniently located just a stone’s throw away from East Middle School and a short distance west of Calvin Coolidge Elementary School.

As a precautionary measure, the police recommended the school district to temporarily lock down the affected buildings following the shooting.
