Wagswoofs – A man was taken into custody at a Costco on the northwest side of Indianapolis after assaulting two individuals. He claimed to the police that he was “protecting himself against the government and the president.”

Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance with a weapon at a Costco store in Indianapolis on Sunday. This information was revealed in court documents that were filed on Monday in Marion County. The incident took place around 12:55 p.m. on the northwest side of the city.

When the officers arrived, they discovered that a male, later identified as Cletis Simmons, had reportedly attacked a man and a woman. The man, who worked at Costco, explained that Simmons had walked past the station where he was stationed.

After the incident, Simmons departed from the Costco and proceeded in a northerly direction, shouting at passing vehicles and fellow customers.

During a subsequent investigation, law enforcement received a call from a neighboring hotel regarding a man resembling Simmons who was present on the premises. Upon reaching the hotel, Simmons allegedly stated to the police that he had been defending himself against the government and the president.

According to the documents, Mr. Simmons did not provide any helpful information about the incident when detectives were notified. As a result, he was arrested and taken to the Marion County Justice Center.
