New Laws Taking Effect On New Year’s Day Include Minimum Wage Boost And Enhanced Nycha Security

Wagswoofs –  New Year’s Day will mark the implementation of several laws introduced by state and city lawmakers this year.

The minimum wage in New York City, Westchester, and Long Island is set to rise to $16, while the rest of the state will see an increase to $15.

Another law has been enacted to address water safety and security in NYCHA buildings. Tenants will now receive written notifications within 24 hours to inform them whether the water is safe for cooking or drinking. Moreover, the law prohibits the installation of keyless security devices in building common areas without obtaining written consent from the building and relevant parties.
