Police Charge Maryland Fraudsters With 65 Counts After Arrest At Tysons Corner Apple Store

Wagswoofs – Last Friday, it was announced by the Fairfax County Police Department that three individuals were caught red-handed attempting to use stolen credit cards at the Apple Store in Tysons Corner. As a result, they were slapped with a whopping 65 criminal charges.

The individuals who are facing charges are:

    • Jose Angel Santos, 20, of Hyattsville;
    • Juan Jose Ruiz Leiva, 21, of Riverdale;
    • Genesis Flores Caceres, 18, of Hyattsville.

Detectives received a tip earlier this week about a potential fraud happening at a home on Chain Bridge Road. The suspects, a group of three individuals, were caught trying to purchase multiple iPhone 15 models worth a total of $5,578. However, they were apprehended by detectives before they could leave the store.

According to police, while the authorities were apprehending the trio, a woman reported to the department that her credit cards had been stolen from her vehicle. These cards were eventually traced back to the ones being utilized at the Apple Store.

Investigators have reported that the credit cards were stolen on the same day. Upon investigating the three suspects, it was found that they had been breaking into numerous vehicles in the parking lots of Scotts Run Nature Preserve and Difficult Run Park for the past few months before making purchases using the stolen credit cards.

The authorities apprehended all three individuals without any trouble.

Charges were filed against Angel Santos, which include:

    • Five counts of credit card fraud;
    • Three counts of conspiracy to commit credit card fraud;
    • Two counts of stolen property with intent to sell;
    • Two counts of wearing a mask to conceal identity;
    • Two counts of destruction of property;
    • Receiving stolen goods;
    • Identity theft;
    • Possession of burglarious tools;
    • Obstruction of justice;
    • Vehicle trespass;
    • Petit larceny.

Ruiz Leiva faced charges including:

    • Eight counts of credit card theft;
    • Four counts of credit card fraud;
    • Two counts of conspiring to commit credit card fraud;
    • Two counts of stolen property with intent to sell;
    • Two counts of destruction of property;
    • Possession of burglarious tools;
    • Identity theft;
    • Petit larceny;
    • Vehicle trespass.

The charges against Flores Caceres were:

    • Five counts of credit card theft;
    • Conspiring to commit credit card fraud;
    • Possession of burglarious tools;
    • Two counts of credit card fraud;
    • Identity fraud;
    • Stolen property with intent to sell;
    • Destruction of property;
    • Vehicle trespass.

The Fairfax County Adult Detention Center is currently holding all three individuals without bond. Their court appearance is scheduled for a later date.
