Wagswoofs – The incident occurred on Park Avenue in Port Jervis, Orange County, at approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 18th.
Chief of Police William J. Worden reported that the center double-yellow line was crossed by a passenger vehicle moving towards the west.
The large flatbed tow truck was hit by the car that was moving towards the east.
Emergency responders rushed to aid a man from Glen Spey, a hamlet in Sullivan County, who suffered severe injuries and became trapped in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. Officers and medical crews provided emergency assistance to the 34-year-old victim.
The Port Jervis Fire Department worked diligently to extract the victim from the vehicle and the Port Jervis EMS transported him to Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. At this time, the identity of the victim has not been released.
After the accident, the tow truck driver received medical attention at Bon Secours Community Hospital and was later discharged.
At present, the City of Port Jervis Police Department detective unit is conducting an investigation into the crash.
