Police report shooting of 17-year-old Texas City High School student inside a residence in La Marque

A young individual is currently recuperating in the hospital following a gunshot wound sustained inside a residence in La Marque.

Police reported that the incident took place shortly before midnight on Avenue B’s 400 block, where the shooting occurred.

The teenager who was identified as a student of Texas City High School is currently in critical condition, but fortunately, they are now in a stable condition at the hospital.

Officials from the La Marque Police Department have confirmed that the incident was a drive-by shooting. However, they have stated that they currently only have a vague description of the vehicle involved in the incident.

According to Milly Garcia, who resides in the vicinity, she heard as many as 30 gunshots.

As Garcia reminisced, he vividly remembered the deafeningly loud sounds that were so close to their cars. He couldn’t help but think that they were being shot at. The intensity of the situation caused him to fear for their lives, wondering if they were about to be robbed, or worse, killed.

According to investigators, the teenager was present in the house along with several others when she sustained a gunshot wound. Our team at ABC13 witnessed investigators gathering evidence outside the residence. The police discovered several shell casings at the scene.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, and the police have yet to uncover any leads or motives.

Within the last two weeks, three females have been shot in the area, with the latest victim being a teen. Tragically, on October 13th, a mother was shot and killed by her own daughter, according to Texas City officers.

A drive-by shooting took place in Texas City, two miles away from the recent shooting incident on Wednesday night, which resulted in the injury of a 46-year-old after shots were fired into a home. It is uncertain at this point whether the two drive-by shootings are related to each other.
