Wagswoofs – According to the police, a man in his 30s was fatally shot inside a Harlem bodega and smoke shop on Sunday night.
Jazeke Samuels, the victim, was discovered inside Legend’s Exotic Candy Shop at 300 West 142 Street, with a gunshot wound to the torso and left arm, according to the NYPD. Officers made the unsettling discovery around 6:10 p.m.
According to surveillance footage obtained by ABC7, Samuels was shot by the gunman while working behind the counter.
The Harlem resident was rushed to the nearby NYC Health + Hospital-Metropolitan, where medical professionals declared him dead.
According to authorities, the establishment where the shooting took place was described as a bodega. However, insider information from the police suggests that it also operated as an unlicensed smoke shop. It is worth noting that unlicensed smoke shops, particularly those that do not sell marijuana legally, have frequently become targets for violent and fatal robberies throughout the city. This is primarily due to the fact that many of these establishments deal in cash transactions.
The motive behind Sunday’s shooting remains unclear, as it is uncertain whether it was a failed robbery or if the killer had other intentions.
According to law enforcement officials, the investigation is currently underway and there have been no arrests made at this time.
