According to reports, Brian Dowling, a teenager from Brooklyn, has been accused of causing the death of Carson. He was taken into custody and was seen in tears as he was led out of the police station following his arrest for the fatal assault.
As per The New York Post, Dowling was spotted in handcuffs on his hands and ankles at the 81st Precinct in Bedford-Stuyvesant. The 18-year-old was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon by the police officers, as reported by The New York Post after his arrest. On October 3, he allegedly wore a sweatshirt and used a knife, both of which were found by the investigators in his apartment.
The authorities found Dowling at his home located on Lafayette Avenue, close to Malcolm X Boulevard, and took him into custody.
Just a few days before his 32nd birthday on October 6th, Carson suffered a fatal attack that took his life.
Surveillance footage obtained by The New York Post shows the alleged attack on Carson, who bravely intervened when Dowling approached him and his girlfriend while they were on their way back from a wedding they attended on Long Island. Carson, who was a campaign organizer for the New York Public Interest Research Group, jumped between the suspect and his girlfriend, putting himself in harm’s way.
On the morning of October 5th, Dowling’s capture was announced by Ken, the father of Carson, on his Facebook page, as a way to inform friends and family.
The perpetrator has been apprehended, and the authorities have confirmed it. However, further information is yet to be disclosed, but the public can expect updates soon.
