Two People Were Killed In An Early Morning Crash In Davenport

Early this morning, a car crashed into a building in downtown Davenport, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives.

In downtown Davenport on Sunday, October 29 at about 2 a.m., Davenport Police witnessed a Chevy Impala driving recklessly at a high speed. Upon encountering the vehicle in the area of Seventh and Division Streets, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, the Impala chose to flee from the officers, and no pursuit was initiated. At 2:06 a.m., the car was observed traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound through the intersection of Second and Gaines Streets. Tragically, the Impala veered off the roadway and collided with a building in the 600 block of W. Second Street, resulting in the death of both occupants. The driver, identified as a man, was transported to a local hospital by Medic EMS, where he was later pronounced dead. Similarly, the passenger, identified as a woman, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

At the moment, there is no additional information available as the authorities are still investigating the incident.
